An Investor has submitted an application to construct a 25-floor, five-star hotel and a four-floor hospital with an Intensive Care Unit in Agia Thekla, Sotira. The project stretches about 2km to the east of Ayia Napa Area. According to local news portal daily.cy, the investment for the project is €170 million, and it will include 261 rooms in the hotel with a total capacity of 522 beds, and the hospital will have 86 beds with six intensive care beds.
The development will also feature restaurants, swimming pools, gym, spa, stores, outpatient, first aid department, departments of various medical specialties, surgeries, public green spaces, and open public squares. The project's location is close to an area of the Natura 2000 network, so special measures will be taken to ensure the project's eco-friendliness, including rational building positioning, special landscaping of green areas, and minimal impact on the ZEP. The proposed development has undergone an environmental impact assessment and will require a Special Ecological Assessment due to its location within the Natura 2000 network.
